Want to become a basketball official? Want to officiate at high school, youth leagues or AAU tournaments?

  • Board 54 IAABO sponsors an annual training session for new officials at Rockland High School in October. Classes meet twice weekly for seven weeks and cover rules knowledge, mechanics, game management and court situations. Participants must pass a written exam and floor test to become a certified IAABO official.

The 2011 training clinic begins September 26th. Prospective candidates 18 years of age or older are welcome to enroll. This 17-session course will be conducted by veteran sports official, Mr. John Karo.

Location:        Rockland High School Cafeteria
Time:              7 - 9 p.m.
Course fee:     $175 (Payable to Board 54, IAABO)
Parking at Rockland HS: Due to construction, parking at Rockland High School will be limited.  A new parking lot has been constructed behind the Middle School, near the entrance to Memorial Stadium.

Floor Test

Successful completion of this course, which includes both a written examination and a floor test will provisionally certify candidates as credentialed basketball referees with the International Association of Approved Basketball Officials (IAABO).
